Last weekend I applied a hair dye on my hair. The one I usually use was not available and I bought another one to try. I just did not like it at all. While I was waiting for it to dry, I was doing some stuff around the kitchen and was talking to Sarath. I just casually told him that I don’t like the hair dye I had to use and this is how the conversation went:
Sarath: Hair dye? You use hair dye?
Me. Yes.
Sarath: Why do you want to dye your hair?
Me: I have a few white hairs which I don’t like and I am still not used to. Once I get used to it, maybe I’ll stop using the dye.
Sarath: You should dye your hair blue instead of black. That’d be cool.
Me: Really? You think so? Blue really? Maybe I can do it, but I am scared.
Sarath: I want to dye my hair blue, but I am scared too. Maybe we should do it together..
Me: Hmmm… maybe
It was such a fun conversation. He was talking seriously and for one moment I actually considered the idea. Maybe pink instead of blue? Maybe. Teenagers usually have a bad rap of being rude and being in their own world etc.. but when you actually connect with them at their level, they are so much fun.
Earlier this year, my parents visited for a few months. It was really fun. One day my mom dyed her hair. Sanjay saw this asked me “Did ammamma dye her hair?” I said yes and he said “She looks just like you”. Many people told me that I look like my mom. But, Sanjay noticing it so closely was amazing. He not only noticed it, but made it a point to tell me. That made me really happy.
